Amdân Dammul, the Bloody Threshold

Amdân Dammul, The Bloody Threshold is the newest raid in U28:  The War of the Three Peaks.  It takes place on the way to the Gates of Gundabad.  This is a relatively short raid consisting of some trash mobs, followed by two boss fights.  On T1 it can be completed in 20-30 mins.  The discovery point is located at (95.2S, 21.6W) on the War of the Three Peaks map.

“The final battle of the War of Three Peaks has begun. Prince Durin Stonehelmson of the Longbeards leads the Gabil’akkâ, a great host of united dwarves, to the very gates of Mount Gundabad. But Gorgar the Ruthless, son of Bolg, has one last surprise in store for those who would seek to usurp him….”

TRASH MOBS

T1-T3:  Kill Order – Defilers > Captains > Warriors > Archers >

Gundabad Captain:  They have an aura called Combat Tactics that increases the ranged and tactical defence of nearby orcs, as well as increasing their melee damage.

Gundabad Defiler:  These cast some nasty debuff that will wipe the tank quick if they are not ready with some cooldown skills.  Some groups elect to CC the Defilers and kill them last.  These are not pottable.

Gundabad Archer:  These cast Vexing Poison, a pottable poison.

Gundabad Warrior:  These can land a nasty pottable wound called Rusted Wound that stacks and a stackable wound called Rend that is not pottable.

Gundabad Troll:  They have a skill called Stomp that puts a pottable wound (that can stack) on you called Crushed.  They also have knockback skills so be sure to not have your back to the next group of trash mobs or you may get punted in to them.

Gundabad Assassin:  Thy have a skill called Tar Pot that puts an unpottable Sticky Tar debuff on you.

Gundabad Heaver:  They have an attack called Big Boulder Throw

Gundabad Warg-Rider:  These put out two pottable fears called Chilled and Minor Fright.

Prince Durin shouts, ”Cross the bridge! Our goal is in sight!”
Náin the Slakeless shouts, ”I will protect the rear! Baruk Khazâd! Khazâd ai-mênu!”
Scout-master Ausma shouts, ”Wait, something is wrong. There should be more Orcs than this… I think this might be…”

BOSS 1:  BARDHRUKH, THE KILLBEAST

Gundabad Archer shouts, ”The Prince has crossed! Bat-riders, NOW!”
Gundabad Archer shouts, ”Gorgar invites you to enter the arena, dwarves! Get moving, or we slaughter you all where you stand!”
Horin shouts, ”You cowards! Come down here and face us!”
Prince Durin shouts, ”Zhélruka, Stout-axes, stay here and guard the door. The Longbeards and my heroes will accept Gorgar’s challenge.”
Prince Ingór shouts, ”As you say, Durin. Try not to die in there.”
Prince Durin shouts, ”I will do my best, Ingór.”
Gorgar the Ruthless shouts, ”Welcome, little Princeling, to my arena!”
Gorgar the Ruthless shouts, ”Here you will face overwhelming odds and be smashed to a bloody pulp for the pleasure of my soldiers.”
Gorgar the Ruthless shouts, ”Ready yourselves, the first bout will begin soon!”
Frost-bound Emissary shouts, ”Gorgar, if this little game of yours fails, Warlord Dushtalbúk will not be pleased. You should just kill them now.”
Gorgar the Ruthless shouts, ”What’s wrong with a bit of fun? They can’t escape, and nothing boosts morale like watching some tarks scurry like insects at the feet of… well we wouldn’t want to spoil the surprise!”
Gorgar the Ruthless shouts, ”You wanted me to command the defence of Urbhármokh, so let me do it my way!”
Frost-bound Emissary shouts, ”Hmph. We will be watching, Gorgar.”
Gorgar the Ruthless shouts, ”Your turn will come soon enough, hobgoblin. But, back to the matter at hand!”
Gorgar the Ruthless shouts, ”When you’re ready to face your certain doom, blow the horn!”
Prince Durin shouts, ”’We accept your challenge, Gorgar. Despite your dishonourable ploys, we will overcome you!”
Gorgar the Ruthless shouts, ”Hah! That’s the spirit! It’s always more fun when the prey is this lively!”
Gorgar the Ruthless shouts, ”We have tamed a variety of beasts for war. They are cunning, vicious, and most of all… hungry for fresh meat!”
Gorgar the Ruthless shouts, ”Face now the Beasts of Slaughter!”
Gorgar the Ruthless shouts, ”May you die with ‘honour’, pushdugs!”
Gorgar the Ruthless shouts, ”You don’t disappoint, Durin! Your heroes are quite skilled.”
Gorgar the Ruthless shouts, ”Let’s see how they handle Bardhrukh, or as my boys call him… THE KILLBEAST!”
Gorgar the Ruthless shouts, ”Look at that! The dwarves killed the Killbeast!”
Frost-bound Emissary shouts, ”Gorgar, your foolhardy plan has failed! In the Warlord’s name, I demand you face these invaders yourself!”
Gorgar the Ruthless shouts, ”Oh I will, hobgoblin… but you will first!”

At the time of this writing only tiers T1-T3 are available.

T1: STRATEGY

The fight consists of the boss, Bardhrukh, and waves of Goblin Bat-Riders and Tamed Mammoths.

Goblin Bat-Riders: These are perched on the walls and ramparts of the arena and fly in from overhead.  They have an induction (Throw Bomb) that must be interrupted or they hit you with a DoT.

Tamed Mammoths:  They have an induction (Poisoned Spear) that cannot be interrupted that puts a poison on you.

Bardhrukh:  Not much to him in T1.

If you have a decent group, T1 can be done with one tank standing in the middle of the arena with the rest of the group at least 10m back from them.  DPS should focus on the Goblin Bat-Riders (and make sure they get interrupted) and then ensure that no more than one Tamed Mammoth is alive at any one time.  When the boss spawns in, the group should switch to it in between Goblin Bat-Rider spawns; AoE should take care of the Tamed Mammoths.

INTERLUDE:  FROST BOUND EMISSARY

No idea why this is here, but after defeating B1 this “mini boss” will spawn.  There is nothing to him, just DPS it down.  He does have an induction called Hrimil’s Power Unleashed.  Failing to interrupt it will cause a Might o Hrimil DoT.

Frost-bound Emissary shouts, ”Gorgar, your foolhardy plan has failed! In the Warlord’s name, I demand you face these invaders yourself!”
Gorgar the Ruthless shouts, ”Oh I will, hobgoblin… but you will first!”

T2:  STRATEGY

The fight consists of the boss, Bardhrukh, and waves of Goblin Bat-Riders and Tamed Mammoths.

Goblin Bat-Riders: These are perched on the walls and ramparts of the arena and fly in from overhead.  They have an induction (Throw Bomb) that must be interrupted or they put a DoT on you.   They will also put out a yellow eye on people via a grey induction bar called Sludge Bomb; this can be interrupted via CJs, Mezzes, or Stuns.  If you get the yellow eye you must run out of the group before it expires.  It will drop a stackable sludge puddle on the ground that does DoT and slows you by 50%.

Tamed Mammoths:  Have a skill called Trample that will stun anyone within 5m of them for 2.2 seconds.  It also leaves a DoT on you.  The LM in the group must keep anti-stun up on the person tanking the Mammoths.  They also have an induction (Poisoned Spear) that cannot be interrupted that puts a poison on you.

Bardhrukh: He does a Thrash induction (cannot be interrupted).  Bloody Wound will be put up on those with aggro, if it remains on one target he also gets a tiered buff called Blood Frenzy (+30% melee damage, +20% tactical damage, +20% attack duration, and +20% run speed per tier).  You can mitigate this by tank swapping so that only one tank has Bloody Wound at a time.

If you have a strong group, T2 can be done with one tank standing in the middle of the arena with the rest of the group at least 10m back from them.

You can also utilize two tanks, one on the Goblin Bat-Riders and one on the Boss.  The second tank grabs the Tamed Mammoths and holds them in the corner.  The LM must keep anti-stun on the tank with the Mammoths.  If you are using this strategy there is no need to kill the Tamed Mammoths.

T3:  STRATEGY

The fight consists of the boss, Bardhrukh, and waves of Goblin Bat-Riders and Tamed Mammoths.

Goblin Bat-Riders: These are perched on the walls and ramparts of the arena and fly in from overhead.  They have an induction (Throw Bomb) that must be interrupted or they put a DoT on you.  They will also put out a yellow eye on people via a grey induction bar called Sludge Bomb; this can be interrupted via CJs, Mezzes, or Stuns.

Pinning Spear:  The Mammoths will pin people (root) to the ground when you see the Spear Pin induction (cannot be interrupted).  You can break them free from the pin by DPSing them.

Bardhrukh:  As aggro remains on one target he gets a tiered buff called Blood Frenzy (+30% melee damage, +20% tactical damage, +20% attack duration, and +20% run speed per tier).  You can mitigate this by tank swapping so that only one tank has Bloody Wound at a time.

DPS should focus on the Pinning Spears > Goblin Bat-Riders (and make sure they get interrupted) and then ensure that no more than one Tamed Mammoth is alive at any one time.  When the boss spawns in, the group should switch to it in between Goblin Bat-Rider spawns; AoE should take care of the Tamed Mammoths.

BOSS 2 – PHASE 1:  GORGAR THE RUTHLESS

Gorgar the Ruthless shouts, ”You have earned the right to face ME, Gorgar the Ruthless, Son of Bolg, and Lord of Gundabad! Prepare yourselves.”
Frost-bound Emissary says, ”My life… for… the Frost-horde….”
Gorgar the Ruthless shouts, ”I have one last beast in my stables; a worthy mount for the Heir of Azog.”
Gorgar the Ruthless says, ”Bring out the warg-chief, boys!”
Ránulur shouts, ”No, stop! I cannot tread in daylight! The witch’s curse!”
Ránulur shouts, ”AAARGH! I WILL KILL YOU ALL FOR THIS!”
Gorgar the Ruthless shouts, ”Easy there. You had best co-operate if you know what’s good for you, warg.”
Ránulur shouts, ”The pain….”
Gorgar the Ruthless shouts, ”Good warg. To battle!”

TIER 1:  STRATEGY

This can be single tanked (but decide before you start the fight as you cannot change for phase 2).  There are no adds for this phase.  You should start the fight in the North corner of the arena up on the hill.  The tank should grab aggro and head to the base of the hill.

There are two types of eyes that a player can get, red and yellow.

Red Eyes:  The player has been targeted by the archers up on the ramparts (you will also see the Rowdy Crowd icon under your character bar).  They must move out of the group to avoid the others taking damage.  It is best for the player to run toward the center of the arena; 10m away from the group is far enough.

Gorgar the Ruthless says, ”Archers, take aim!”

Gorgar the Ruthless says, ”Did you think you would be safe over there? Nar!”

Yellow Eyes:  Gorgar the Ruthless will turn and face the player that is about to get the yellow eye and they will get a Massive Javelin icon under their character bar.  He will also say one of the following:

Gorgar the Ruthless says, ”I’ll stick you like a hog!”
Gorgar the Ruthless says, ”Here, catch! Ya hoy!”
Gorgar the Ruthless says, ”Taste my lance!”

Upon expiry, the yellow eye will drop a Burning Javelin puddle under the player.  It is important to plan on where to drop these or it will make phase two very difficult to manage.  Players should aim to drop these along the North (NNE) wall on top of the hill.  The puddles can be stacked; how many will depend on the group.

Gorgar the Ruthless:  He really does not do much on T1.  When you get him to 30.7% he will phase:

TIER 2/3:  STRATEGY

This should be done with two tanks (but decide before you start the fight as you cannot change for phase 2).

Gorgar the Ruthless:   He puts a stacking debuff called Pierced Armour on the person with aggro.  It is recommended that the two tanks swap aggro at around tier 3.  When it falls off the other tank takes over.  Rinse/repeat.

Lingering Heat appears on whomever is #2 on the aggro table.  This does fall off after 1m30s if a new tier is not added.  Tank swapping can mitigate this.  The mechanism is similar to Anvil B3, if you time it right you have one tank with Piercing Armour tiering up while the other is tiering down on Lingering Heat and vice versa.

When you get him to 30.7% he will phase:

Ránulur shouts, ”ENOUGH! I AM NO ONE’S MOUNT!”
Ránulur shouts, ”I am a Chieftain of Wargs!”
Gorgar the Ruthless shouts, ”Worthless mongrel! Have it your way!”
Gorgar the Ruthless shouts, ”I leave you to die at the hands of these dwarves!”
Ránulur, Chieftain of Wargs shouts, ”I will kill them all, and then I am coming for YOU, Gorgar!”

BOSS 2 – PHASE 2:  RANULAR, CHIEFTAN OF WARGS

Ránulur, Chieftain of Wargs now seeks revenge …

T1:  STRATEGY

Ránulur, Chieftan of Wargs:  He will call in adds (Frenzied Wargs) to assist him by saying one of the following phrases;

Ránulur, Chieftain of Wargs says, ”Your father needs you!”
Ránulur, Chieftain of Wargs says, ”Children! To me!”

Frenzied Wargs:  These should be DPSed down as fast as possible; they hit like a truck and place a pottable Clinging Shadow wound debuff on you; note this is stackable.  When a warg barks it places an incurable DoT called Clinging Darkness on all of those within “X” meters in front of them (it is a frontal cone).  You can choose to ignore this on T1, or you can just ensure that melee classes move away before they die.

Ránulur, Chieftain of Wargs shouts, ”At last… my suffering… is over….”

Defeated Gorgar and Ránulur
Completed:
Amdân Dammul, the Bloody Threshold — Tier 1

T2/3:  STRATEGY

A two tank system is recommended for most groups.  The main tank holds the boss, and the off-tank grabs the adds.

Ránulur, Chieftan of Wargs:  He has a skill called [INSERT NAME] that will trigger the dwarves at the South end of the arena to assist you by shielding you from the damage (see Dwarves section).  When the skill expires it result in him dropping a fire puddle under him.  This cannot be interrupted or CJed.  Therefore it is really important to plan where you will be tanking this boss.  You should start in the South corner of the arena for the first puddle and then work your way NW along the wall and then across the arena from West to East; you should end in the NE corner.  It is all about puddle and aggro management.

He will call in adds (Frenzied Wargs) to assist him by saying one of the following phrases;

Ránulur, Chieftain of Wargs says, ”Your father needs you!”
Ránulur, Chieftain of Wargs says, ”Children! To me!”

Frenzied Wargs:  The off-tank should aggro these and bring them to the main tank ASAP so the group can AoE; however, they need to keep the wargs facing away from the main tank to prevent shadow damage on them; you also have to keep them from facing the DPS.  These should be DPSed down as fast as possible; they hit like a truck and place a pottable Clinging Shadow wound debuff on you; note this is stackable; it must be removed ASAP.  When a warg barks it places an incurable DoT called Clinging Darkness on all of those within “X” meters in front of them (it is a frontal cone).  Melee classes may need to move away from the wargs before they die; this will depend on your group abilities.

Dwarves:  There are five dwarves at the South end of the arena that are there to help you.  When they call out; “Heroes to me!” you will see glowing red shields encircling them.  You must run as fast as possible to them, and get within the circle; Note:  the main tank should stay in their place and use cooldowns (don’t run to the circle).  As soon as the red shields disappear you can leave the area.

Ránulur, Chieftain of Wargs shouts, ”At last… my suffering… is over….”

Defeated Gorgar and Ránulur
Completed:
Amdân Dammul, the Bloody Threshold — Tier “2/3”

Prince Durin shouts, ”Well done, heroes!”
Prince Durin shouts, ”Was that all you could muster, Gorgar? You have lost! Surrender now!”
Gorgar the Ruthless shouts, ”What a disappointment. All right, fun’s over, boys. Time to finish this.”
Commander Glóin shouts, ”Dishonourable cur!”
Gorgar the Ruthless shouts, ”Archers, take aim!”
Prince Durin shouts, ”Shields up!”
Gorgar the Ruthless shouts, ”Ready….”
Horin shouts, ”Did you forget about the rest of us, Orc?”
Scout-master Ausma shouts, ”Too easy.”
Prince Durin shouts, ”Haha! The day is ours! Rush the gate!”
Commander Glóin shouts, ”For Gundabad!”
Horin shouts, ”Oh no. That sounded like….”
Gorgar the Ruthless shouts, ”What?! Not now! I was so close!”
Gundabad Orc shouts, ‘The Frost-heart!”
Gundabad Orc shouts, ”The hobgoblins were right!”
Gundabad Orc shouts, ”The dragon!”
Gorgar the Ruthless shouts, ”Orcs, retreat! Get inside the mountain!”
Prince Durin shouts, ”This isn’t over, Gorgar!”
Gorgar the Ruthless shouts, ”Oh, you’re right about that, little Princeling!”
Prince Durin shouts, ”Everyone! Get off the ramparts!”
Hrímil Frost-heart shouts, ”Scatter, vermin!”
Prince Durin shouts, ”Hrímil Frost-heart? How can this be?”
Hrímil Frost-heart shouts, ”I have returned to claim what is mine!”
Hrímil Frost-heart shouts, ”Bow down before the true Master of Gundabad!”
Prince Durin shouts, ”No… we were so close! Our prize slips from our grasp once more.”
Commander Glóin shouts, ”All is not lost, my Prince.”
Prince Ingór shouts, ”Aye. We could see the battle’s ending from across the bridge.”
Dréri shouts, ”Náin the Slakeless led our forces to victory!”
Scout-master Ausma shouts, ”The Orcs flee back to the mountain! The field is ours!”
Prince Durin shouts, ”You are right, Commander. All is not lost!”
Prince Durin shouts, ”It will take time to regroup, tend to the wounded, and break through this cursed ice…. But the day is won!”
Prince Durin shouts, ”Gundabad will be ours!”
